September 2023: Julie and Paul

The Braemar Gathering weekend was certainly celebrated with a bang at St Margaret’s with a sell-out concert on the Friday night featuring the wonderful Julie Fowlis.  People travelled from far and wide to attend the concert and by the ovation she received at the end they were clearly not disappointed.

It’s now become a tradition that on the Sunday after the Gathering Professor Paul Mealor brings the Caritas Choir to sing at Crathie Kirk in the morning and then on to St Margaret’s in the afternoon.  And what a show they gave us with excerpts of music he had written for King Charles lll’s coronation as well as performances of stirring familiar hymns specially arranged by Dr John Frederick Hudson.

Next up we have the annual Literary Festival at the end of September quickly followed by the Folk Festival.  Some big names feature in both of these and tickets are going quickly.  Again check our website for availability and to book your seats
