December 2022: Merry Christmas Everyone!

The year certainly ended with a bang as our second Festival de Noel concluded with a spectacular fireworks display from the roof of the building.  This rounded off three fantastic days of events in the village to put us all in the mood for Christmas.

And it snowed which gave a very festive feel to Braemar!  It also presented some major challenges as the sudden deterioration in road conditions made it impossible for the two choirs, we had invited, to get to St Margaret’s.  Not to be outdone a group of local folk and their weekend houseguests quickly formed a pop-up choir and delighted the audience at our Saturday night concert with a programme of favourite Christmas songs.  Braemar is never short of initiative.

On Monday we hosted a wedding blessing for a young couple who recently emigrated from South Africa.  The groom traced his ancestry back to Braemar and was determined to have the ceremony here with a livestream link back to his family in South Africa.

Our final event for 2022 will be the Community Watchnight Service on Christmas Eve, always a popular occasion as we all get together to welcome in Christmas Day.

Hopefully we’ll see many of you there but wherever you are have a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

We look forward to welcoming you back to St Margaret’s in 2023 when we once again will have a very exciting programme of performances and exhibitions for you.

Merry Christmas from all of us at the St Margaret’s Trust and also from our parent organisation Historic Churches Scotland.
