Recitals for Wrigglers’ are concerts especially tailored for babies and toddlers delivered by professional violinist Louise Bevan and cellist Clea Friend. The music is performed in an informal environment where the children are allowed to move around and express themselves! Programmes last 30-40 minutes and provide an original, educational and interactive experience of live classical music suitable for the whole family.
About Recitals for Wrigglers
Louise and Clea set up 'Recitals for Wrigglers' in 2014. Their aim was to create informal classical concerts for babies, toddlers and their parents. The concept has been so much fun to create and so well received that they now have eight recital programmes with different themes that all include 'real' classical music which they perform live.
Louise
Louise Bevan studied at Trinity College of Music in London where she won several prizes and scholarships. Since then she has played live on BBC Radio 3, at the Brit Awards, for the Queen at Buckingham Palace, for a variety of film and theatre productions including the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has played with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal National Orchestra of Scotland, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Louise was a member of the Archaeus Quartet until 2014 when she moved to Scotland and formed Recitals for Wrigglers.
Clea
Clea Friend studied music here in Edinburgh and then focussed on cello playing at Eastman School of Music in America. Since then she has gained an MSc in Music in the Community which has lead to many exciting and rewarding projects with children and adults who have additional support needs.
She combines a freelance playing career (playing with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Royal National Orchestra of Scotland) with teaching and community music projects here and in the Balkans.
