Braemar Literary Festival 2022: Ian Rankin OBE, Tom Parker Bowles, Angela Hartnett and more.

We are excited to announce the inaugural Braemar Literary Festival, taking place from 7th-9th October 2022.

The festival is being held in collaboration with The Fife Arms, The Royal Reading Room and is co-curated by Genevieve Gaunt with support from Tom Parker Bowles, St Margaret’s and local cultural partners.

The Braemar Literary Festival aims to explore the creative use of words and text in their broadest sense; celebrating the works of bestselling authors alongside visual artists, spoken word performers, singer-songwriters, scriptwriters, critics, and publishers alike, reflecting the many ways in which the ’literary’ creatively enhances our lives.

The festival promises to be an exciting two-day event bringing together the Braemar community, Fife Arms’ guests, and literary lovers.
The current festival line-up includes:

  • Tom Parker Bowles in conversation with Angela Hartnett OBE and Jeremy Lee on the Art of the Cookbook

  • The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room: ‘In conversation’ events with Sebastian Faulks and Kate Mosse

  • Ian Rankin OBE in conversation with Sam Leith, Literary Editor of the Spectator

  • Poetry Readings with Jackie Kay and Hannah Lavery

  • Stephen Page, Executive Chair of Faber, on the Story of Books in the 21stCentury

  • Book signing & talks by whisky expert, Dave Broom

  • Poem & a Pint: Pop-up poetry readings with Shane Stachan and Mae Diansangu and live music by Chef in the Fife Arms, Flying Stag Bar

  • The story of the making of ‘Braemarnia,’ a community novel, with Rachel Marsh and Marilyn Baker
