Braemarnia: The Writing of a Community Novel

Friday 7th October

2pm-3pm

Braemar Village Hall

Admission Free

Braemarnia began its life at the 2018 Braemar Creative Arts Festival, when the writer-in-residence, Rachel Marsh, asked the impossible, ‘Tell me a story’.  Rachel then spent a year returning back and forth to the village to collect tales from local residents to weave the story of Braemar.

As this unique community project nears its end, join us to discover more about this incredible journey from oral fact to prose fiction. Writer Rachel Marsh and Marilyn Baker, Director of the Braemar Creative Arts Festival and voice of Braemarnia, will be in conversation to highlight the ups and downs of writing a community novel, and to share a short film on the project and read excerpts from the final book.
