“Today Braemar is a vibrant community striving to become even better, with a raft of different projects under way. The economy of the village is heavily dependent on tourism……Now there is a real desire to extend further both summer and winter seasons by creating additional attractions to bring more visitors to Braemar, persuading them to stay longer and establishing a more robust economy.”

The Scottish Redundant Churches Trust (SRCT) has secured over £80,000 of funding for an immediate scheme of repairs that will begin the process of regenerating St Margaret’s. In September 2015, work will get underway to repair parts of the roof and high level masonry; and to remove the steel propping in the Lightfoot Aisle. The SRCT is grateful to the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund, Scotland’s Churches Trust, the National Churches Trust, the ANT Foundation, and the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme for their support for St Margaret’s.
There is a strong market opportunity for the redevelopment of St Margaret’s as an arts and performance venue. St Margaret’s presents the opportunity to deliver a unique offer whilst complementing and enhancing existing arts activity and tourism development.
