14 - 15th September 2019
As part of the Doors Open Days 2019 event, we welcome you all to visit St Margaret's Church and to learn more about our historical background and future projects.
Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free annual architectural event. It has been celebrating heritage and the built environment in Scotland since 1990, and it takes place every September. Doors Open Days is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust and is part of European Heritage Days alongside Scottish Archaeology Month. This event is supported by Historic Environment Scotland. One of the central themes of this year's Doors Open Days event is to celebrate Arts and Entertainment.
Join the St Margaret’s Braemar Heritage Engagement Officer on Doors Open Day for a morning of hands-on family friendly workshops on traditional building materials. Aimed at primary school aged children, participants will learn how to be ‘building detectives’ through exploring traditional and modern construction materials. An ideal start to Doors Open Day, children can apply their learning to other historic buildings over the weekend. They will also be able to keep their mini-masonry walls (sorry, the mini-bricks are recyclable and will be used by other children over the weekend). These free workshops have been made possible with generous funding from Cairngorms LEADER. They are open to all ages and abilities, but children under 16 must bring an adult.
