The Doric Messiah

Join us for a singing workshop and performance of selections from Handel's Messiah in Doric, conducted by internationally acclaimed composer, Paul Mealor. Words by Gordon Hay, translator of the Doric Bible. It took Gordon Hay, a church elder from Longside, Aberdeenshire, a total of six years to complete his "labour of love" - a project that resulted in the complete translation of the New Testament into his mither tongue of Doric.

Way Through a Journey of Hope and Inspiration - Alison Chandler Exhibition

Join us to experience an art exhibition that invites you to walk with Alison Chandler through her personal journey as she creates art for the first time in her life to use a therapeutic tool to find her way through cancer and subsequently, following a full recovery, opening a new chapter for herself as an artist. A journey of hope and inspiration through life-threatening illness, developing a unique strength-evoking iconography, exploring depiction of the female body, identity and what we take on our travels inevitably or by force of will.

Jazz in the Village - Miller and Spencer

A Pre-Braemar Gathering Event

Friday 6th September 2019

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Ian (saxophones) and Dominic (piano) have been performing together for a number of years playing melodic improvisations on jazz standards and original compositions. Their style of jazz concentrates on developing melodic ideas within the framework of the melody of a tune, whilst maintaining the concept and groove behind it. The result is a very accessible melodic style which allows them to explore, improvise and develop ideas without losing the essence of each piece of music, and to interact together in as creative a way as possible.

Mealor's new album with the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir, Immortal Memory, entered the UK Classical Charts at number 3 at the beginning of this year.
